With the exploration of the mono shell for the Kay Chair, the H Chair is much wider and symetrical from seat to back. The generous proportions work well for the active sitter, as you will find many ways to sit and interact with the chair. The upholstery fabric is a Boucle from Glant Textiles and the frame is stainless steel. This is just one in a series including a dining chair.
This blog will be a more effective way of supplementing my web site with more current information about new projects, prototyping, and teaching at MCAD. The new site is up and running well.

Prior to receiving a Master’s Degree of Fine Arts in Furniture Design from Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2004, I completed my Bachelors in Graphic Design at the University of Minnesota. Aside from designing and building furniture since 1990, I have also had the privilege of working as a graphic designer and a photographer between 1990-2002. Currently I run my own studio practice under the name SOLV, in NE Minneapolis. I’m teaching at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design as a member of adjunct faculty. The last 2 years I was the visiting artist (full time) in the Fine Arts department. The college had hired me to write new curriculum for the furniture design degree, this consists of expanding areas in design, methodology, sustainability, limited and mass production and environments.
